The DJ Playlist powered by Mastermix DJ
After speaking with several DJs who regularly post their set lists, I asked if they’d be open to sharing their selections with a wider audience – and the response was a unanimous “yes”.

Over the coming year, I’ll be collaborating with DJs across the UK and Europe to showcase the music choices behind a broad range of events. Each issue, we’ll highlight a different DJ, explore their approach, and give you an authentic insight into the tracks that shaped their dancefloors.

We begin the series with Brian Mole Weddings, based in the southeast of England. Brian has earned a reputation as one of the most sought-after DJs in his region, known for his meticulous attention to detail and his ability to read a room.
I asked Brian to select a playlist from a recent wedding – one that stood out for its flow, energy, and universal appeal.

Playlist Insight: “Wedding Cheesy Starter”

Brian explains: “This is a typical wedding starter. There’s nothing particularly new here, but the magic is in the flow – moving smoothly from the 70s through the 80s and 90s to build the early part of the evening while all age groups are still present and enjoying a dance. The set begins at around 100 BPM and gently rises to about 120 BPM, warming the floor and setting the tone for the night.”

“Now we can start dropping some absolute bangers to drive a full dancefloor. From here, you can take the set in many directions, but I always recommend referring back to the client’s “must-play” list – the tracks they love and want to move to. That’s where the personal magic really happens.”

The use of DJ Beats, DJ Re-Grids, and original tracks from Mastermix helps Brian craft a playlist packed with floor-filling party favourites that set the perfect tone for his guests. It’s a fun, high-energy selection that showcases how thoughtful programming and clever use of tools can elevate the early part of any event.

This is a great playlist to try at one of your forthcoming functions – a reliable crowd-pleaser that warms the room, unites the generations, and builds the ideal foundation for the night ahead.
