The latest edition of Mastermix's flagship DJ-only release, Issue 352, consists of two discs, each featuring mixes, remixes, mash-ups and extended floor-fillers, curated and mixed by the Mastermix team for use by mobile jocks and commercial club/bar DJs.
This new compilation includes an array of high-energy dance classics, modern charts hits from the current cream of the crop and a captivating assortment of golden oldies, as well as loads of exclusive mash-ups and mixes, making it suitable for all events and ideal for mobile DJs that want to impress crowds of all ages and tastes!
The first disc starts things off with the ‘Chart Breakers’ section, featuring the hottest current chart-toppers. ‘Saving My Life’ begins the section with some mellowed-out deep house, moving into the powerful vocals of Karen Harding for ‘Feel Good (It’s Alright)’ before Diplo & Sleepy Tom’s ‘Be Right There’ ups the ante with a harsher sound. Closing the section, Watermät, Becky Hill & Tai thrown down some piano-led house in ‘All My Love’ and Wiley joins Lucky Charmes and encourages us to get ‘skanking’ in ‘Skank (Skank Out)’.
The next mix – ‘Essential Dance’ – does exactly what it says on the tin, offering up some of today’s best-loved party-starting dance tunes! The Tough Love remix of ‘Everybody Feeling Something’ opens the section with some laid-back but club-friendly dance, after which Oliver Heldens & Shaun Frank really gets things pumping with the club mix of ‘Shades of Grey’ and a glitchy K-Klass mix of Level 3’s ‘Feeling Your Love’ keeps the floor moving. Seeing us out, Nero’s ‘Two Minds’ receives a reworking from David Zowie and Rita Ora’s ‘Body On Me’ makes for a super-charged, sexy finale.
As the longest section on disc one, ‘Mashed Hits!’ takes a huge variety of pop hits from across the genres and mashes them together to incredible effect! Opening with Deee-Lite’s ‘Groove Is In The Heart’, the mix brings in everything from Bobby Brown’s classic ‘Two Can Play That Game’ to the Tom Jones & Mousse T version of ‘Sex Bomb’, with tracks from Justin Timberlake, Vanilla Ice and dance staples like ‘Pump Up The Jam’ and ‘You Got The Love’ in between. This mash-up is perfect for mobile DJs that want to play tracks that the whole crowd will know, but also surprise guests by letting them hear these classics in an exciting new way.
Appealing to both chart fans and big dance heads, the fourth segment of disc one – ‘Deep House Every Weekend’ – features the latest deep house tracks, kicking off with the hugely popular ‘The Party (This Is How We Do It)’ and including the addictive David Zowie track that gives the section its name! Elsewhere, Tough Love’s ‘Pony (Jump On It)’ (which features Ginuwine) brings the bass, DJ S.K.T feat. Rae’s track ‘Take Me Away’ delivers something minimal and moody, while both Karen Harding and Blonde make well-earned second appearances in Issue 352 with ‘Say Something’ and ‘I Love You’, respectively.
Closing disc one, we get an exclusive mashup of Olly Murs vs. Robin Thicke. Featuring choppy guitars and smooth strings, Murs’ upbeat chart-topper fuses perfectly with the more beat-heavy club vibes of Robin Thicke and Nicki Minaj’s latest track, combining the best of both for a floor-filling mash-up packed full of irresistible pop hooks.
Parties should be fun, right? Disc Two of Mastermix Issue 352 opens with ‘The Funhouse Party Megamix pt.13’, incorporating party classics from over the years, including ‘Thriller’, the ‘Ghostbusters’ theme, the Backstreet Boys, Talking Heads and even the noughties hit ‘Monster’ by The Automatic.
‘Jukebox Heroes’ follows on from this nicely, with a selection of feel-good tracks that are bound to please fans of rock, indie and guitar music. Starting with Blur’s grunge-influenced ‘Song 2’, the section moves through the bluesy rock of Supergrass and The Dandy Warhols, the psychedelic punk of The Stranglers, the witty lyricism of The Beautiful South’s ‘36D’ and eighties classics from Blondie and Squeeze – all the tune that get played down the pub, featuring the very best jukebox heroes!
Taking things over to the more alternative side of the musical spectrum, mobile DJs will find plenty of ammunition for their arsenal in the ‘Alternative Anthems’ part of disc two. The Cult’s classic track ‘She Sells Sanctuary’ kicks things off with some driving rock, before The Knack’s ‘My Sharona’ swaps the frenetic beats of ‘In Between Days’ for a thumping bassline. Closing the section, punk legend Billy Idol chimes in with his ‘Rebel Yell’ and the wacky, sun-drenched sound of The B52’s sees us out with ‘Rock Lobster’. Everyone loves the nineties… even if they don’t admit to it! The fourth part of disc two, titled ‘Luv 2 Luv… The 90s!’ offers up some of the decade’s best songs, destined to fill dance-floors for years to come. Erasure’s ‘Love To Hate You’ starts off proceedings, setting the tone for following tracks from the likes of Dr. Alban, Tony Di Bart and JX, as well as K.W.S’s ‘Please Don’t Go’ and Madonna’s electronica-influenced hit, ‘Ray of Light’.
Finishing Mastermix Issue 352 in true style is an ‘Extended Floorfiller’ mix of MJ’s ‘Rock With You’ – with intro and outro beats ensuring smooth transitions between songs, giving mobile DJs freedom to really get creative with how they work this classic pop track into their sets!
