A new range of high-power active speakers – the XPRS Series – has been announced by Pioneer Pro Audio, providing mobile DJs with portable, wooden-enclosure speakers that use efficient class-D amplifiers and the company’s Pro Audio technology to deliver natural sound.
Offering versatile plug-and-play systems, the new XPRS Series comprises the XPRS15 and XPRS12 – both two-way full-range speakers – as well as the XPRS215S dual 15-inch subwoofer, allowing mobile users to form a compact system that can be taken on the road and used at a range of events. All three speakers are housed in 15mm birch plywood enclosures, ensuring that mobile DJs can achieve a dynamic sound, no matter which genre of music they’re playing.
The XPRS12 and XPRS15 utilise 12- and 15-inch ferrite LF drivers, a 1.75-inch titanium diaphragm compression driver, and Pioneer Pro Audio’s AFAST technology, allowing users to deliver a clear, clean sound with the capacity for deep bass. Pioneer has also incorporated Powersoft class-D amplifiers (with Power Factor Correction), an auto-ranging power supply, multiple inputs/outputs, and advanced speakers, power and amp protection features.
In addition, users can enhance their sound using the four EQ modes (flat, neutral, speech and wedge) with built-in DSP. Also, the wedge-shaped XPRS12 and XPRS15 speakers can be placed on the floor and used as fold-back monitor for stage performances – making it a flexible option for mobile DJs who also provide audio setup for bands at their events – or pole-mount the system, adjusting the tilt angle from 0-7⁰ depending on the needs of the user.
The XPRS215S, meanwhile, is fitted with two 15-inch ferrite LF drivers, as well as offering users a crossover switch (for 80, 100, 120 or 150Hz) and a phase switch, providing mobile DJs with a reliable subwoofer capable of producing solid low-end.
The Pioneer Pro Audio XPRS Series will be available from May 2016, with SSPs of £999 (XPRS12), £1099 (XPRS15) and £1299 (XPRS215S).
